Polish Long Course Nationals: Aleksandra Urbanczyk Twice Lowers Polish Record; Konrad Czerniak Clocks Top 10 Effort

OSTROWIEC SWIETOKRZYSKI, Poland, May 21. A Polish record took a tumble during the third day of action at the Polish Long Course Nationals.

Aleksandra Urbanczyk twice lowered the Polish record in the women's 50 back. First she hit the wall in 28.83 during prelims to beat her 2010 record of 28.90. Then she won the finale in 28.74. Klaudia Nazieblo took second in 29.13, while Alicja Tchorz finished third in 29.18.

Konrad Czerniak jumped up to 10th in the world rankings in the men's 100 fly with a winning time of 52.56. Marcin Babuchowski touched second in 53.48, while Marcin Cieslak placed third in 54.22.

Marcin Tarczynski won the men's 200 IM in 2:01.31, while Cieslak placed a close second in 2:01.74. Jakub Jasinski finished third in 2:03.57. Tchorz claimed the women's 200 IM in 2:16.92. Anna Kowalczyk touched second in 2:18.96, while Katarzyna Staszkiewicz finished third in 2:19.19.

Pawel Korzeniowski earned the men's 400 free title in 3:51.70. Mateusz Sawrymowicz took second in 3:53.21, while Michal Szuba wound up third in 3:56.19. Paula Zukowska hit the wall in 4:17.85 to win the women's 400 free. Donata Kilijanska (4:18.89) and Natalia Charlos (4:19.31) picked up second and third place honors.

Slawomir Kuczko posted a 2:13.68 to claim the men's 200 breast title. Dawid Szulich earned second in 2:16.34, while Mateusz Pacholczyk placed third in 2:17.00. Agnieszka Ostrowska clocked a 2:29.57 to win the women's 200 breast. Weronika Paluszek touched second in 2:30.42, while Wiktoria Bienkowska rounded out the top three in 2:33.36.

Krzysztof Jankiewicz won the men's 50 back in 26.01, while Marcin Unold finished second in 26.23. Radoslaw Kawecki finished a surprising third in 26.30. Otylia Jedrzejczak topped the women's 100 fly in 59.91. Mirela Olczak (1:00.58) and Anna Dowgiert (1:01.41) completed the podium.
