Plenty of News in Latest College Recruit Rankings Update

PHOENIX, Arizona, October 29. IT's been just two days since the last update, and we've been swamped with news on recent verbal commitments as part of the College Recruit Rankings.

Five star Dan O'Connor made the choice to head to North Carolina for his collegiate years. O'Connor, who swims for the Syracuse Chargers and preps at Westhill, has long course senior national cuts in the 400-meter free (4:01.01), 1500-meter free (15:46.19) and 400-meter IM (4:30.24). He also owns NCAA Division I B cuts in the 500-yard free (4:27.25) and 1650-yard free (15:26.89).

O'Connor joins four other five stars headed to North Carolina as Patrick Ceddia, Emily Kelly, Stephanie Peacock and Katherine Rechsteiner have already committed to UNC.

Five star Erica Dittmer will remain in Texas as a part of the Texas A&M Aggie squad. Dittmer, who swims for Pack and preps at Klein High in Texas, holds long course senior national cuts in the 100-meter breast (1:12.01) and 200-meter breast (2:33.01).

Princeton added a pair of verbal commitments recently. Five star Andrea Kropp, who preps at Flintridge Sacred Heart and swims for Swim Pasadena, has long course senior national cuts in the 100-meter breast (1:12.33), 200-meter breast (2:32.33), 200-meter IM (2:19.22) and 400-meter IM (4:49.08).

Three star Kasey Morris of Tidewater Aquatics and Oscar Smith High will join Kropp as a future swimmer for Princeton.

Five star Lindsey LaPorte, who swims for Scottsdale Aquatics and preps at Pinnacle High, is headed to Louisville. She has long course senior national cuts in the 400-meter free (4:18.18) and 800-meter free (8:49.66). She joins three star Carly Munchel of WSY Swimming in Louisville's Class of 2010.

Arizona picked up another five star of a deepening Class of 2010. Michael Sheppard, who swims for Memphis Thunder and preps at St. George's, is a backstroker with long course senior national cuts in the 100-meter back (56.63) and 200-meter back (2:01.16). He also has B cuts in the 100-yard back (48.41) and 200-yard back (1:45.15).

He joins a solid recruit class thus far made up of five stars Mitch Friedemann, Margo Geer, Tommy Gutman, Ellis Miller and Aubrey Peacock as well as four star Grace Finnegan and three star Kait Flederbach.

Four star Matt Roney is another Texas-based recruit remaining close to home. Roney, who swims for the Dallas Mustangs and preps at Cistercian, will bring his long course senior national cut time of 1:53.16 in the 200-meter free to SMU.

Four star Stephen Lichtner add to a strong class brewing at the University of Florida. Lichtner, who swims for Metro Aquatic Club and preps at Miami Palmetto Senior High, holds a long course senior national cut in the 100-meter free (51.12). He joins a handful of five stars already committed to Florida in Kaitlin Frehling, Alicia Mathieu, Jon Nunez, Connor Signorin and Eric Solis.

Three star Lauren Rigg, who swims for North Jeffco and preps at Fairview High, will attend Yale after her senior season.

Two star Lauren Marchese of STAR Swimming and Nardin Academy joins fellow two star Cody Vitez as future members of the Cornell University squad.
