Peter Busch Predicts Results Of Day 2 Finals On The Morning Swim Show News Segment.

PHOENIX, Arizona, July 8. TODAY'S news segment of The Morning Swim Show predicts which records will be broken on the second night of finals at the USA Swimming world championship trials.

Host Peter Busch talks briefly about the news that American distance swimmer will reportedly miss the meet after contracting the H1N1 virus, commonly known as the swine flu. According to the Washington Post, Ziegler and several teammates are sick with the virus and have not traveled to Indianapolis to compete.

As for the predictions, the show begins with Michael Phelps and his first event of the meet, the 200 freestyle. Phelps' world record is 1:42.96, and Busch predicts that Phelps will fall a second short with a 1:43.96.

In the women's 100 backstroke, Busch does not predict any records will fall, but does declare that Hayley McGregory will win the event and punch her ticket to Rome.

The drama is already built into the men's 100 backstroke final as Aaron Piersol finds himself in an uncommon situation: without an individual world record. Piersol recently lost his mark to Spain's Aschwin Wildeboer Faber, who set the standard with a 52.38. Busch predicts that Piersol will have to wait until Rome to reclaim his record.

A record will fall in the women's 200 free, but not a world record. Busch anticipates that Dana Vollmer will clip Katie Hoff's American record in the event. The record is 1:55.78, which Hoff set at the Beijing Olympics.

The predictions begin and end with Phelps, who will swim the 200 fly to cap the night. Busch explains that this is the more likely record for Phelps tonight because he feels he has unfinished business in this event. Remember, this was the swim at the Olympics where Phelps' goggles filled with water. Phelps said afterwards that it was the only goal time he did not surpass. However, Busch predicts that Phelps will not lower that record until the world championships at the earliest.
