Performance of the Week, June 12, 2012

PHOENIX, Arizona, June 12. WE'RE less than two weeks out from the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials in Omaha, Nebraska, and last weekend was our final look at some of the people that will challenge for spots on the Olympic roster.

The men's 100 breaststroke will be a close battle among all eight swimmers in the final, and Kevin Cordes made a statement that he will be one of those challengers with a lifetime best time in the event at the Mutual of Omaha Swimvitational. Cordes swam a 1:01.23, which is also a national age group record in the 17-18 age group. The former record holder was Brendan Hansen, who will likely be in that 100 breast final in Omaha. Cordes is having an amazing year, highlighted by that American record in the 100-yard breast at the NCAA championships.

Congratulations, Kevin. You won our Performance of the Week!
