Pan Pacific Championships: USA Wins Women’s 800 Free Relay – Coverage Sponsored by TYR

IRVINE, California, August 19. THE United States foursome of Dana Vollmer, Morgan Scroggy, Katie Hoff and Allison Schmitt won the women's 800 free relay at the Pan Pacific Championships.

Vollmer clocked a 1:58.05 leadoff, while Scroggy split a 1:57.89. Hoff posted a 1:58.70 in the third leg, while Schmitt threw down a strong anchor leg of 1:56.57 to combine for a 7:51.21 for the win and a Pan Pacific meet record. USA held the previous record with a time of 7:54.62 set in 2006.

Australia's Blair Evans, Kylie Palmer, Katie Goldman and Meagen Nay placed second in 7:52.64, while Canada's Genevieve Saumur, Julia Wilkinson, Barbara Jardin and Samantha Cheverton earned third in 7:54.32.

Japan (7:57.63), New Zealand (7:59.80) and Brazil (8:18.20) also swam in the finale.
