Pan-Am Swimming Will NOT Be Canceled, Official Says

COLORADO SPRINGS, March 21. The Pan American Games Organizing Committee, the president of the Dominican Republic and the Pan American Sports Organization (PASO) have made a very strong statement that swimming and other sports will not be moved from the Dominican Republic and that the events will take place, according to Carol Zaleski, former USA Swimming president. Zaleski is the new president of ASUA.

"I have just returned from the Dominican Republic," she said, "and I am encouraged by the progress that I saw from last month to today. If they keep working at the rate it will be finished."

If the natatorium is not finished, Zaleski said "there is an adequate facility two hours north of Santo Domingo" where the swimming competition can be held.
