Pac-12 Women’s Championships Day 1: Cal Opens With Relay Wins

The Cal women got off to a fast start at the Pac-12 Women’s Championships on Wednesday in Federal Way, Washington, winning the first two relays.

The Golden Bears lead the meet with 128 points. Stanford is second with 112, followed by USC (108), Arizona (104), UCLA (98), Arizona State (98), Washington State (92), Utah (88) and Oregon State (42).

200 Medley Relay

Kathleen Baker, Abbey Weitzeil, Noemie Thomas and Amy Bilquist won the 200-yard medley relay in 1:34.13, a conference meet record.

On their heels was Stanford. Ally Howe, Kim Williams, Janet Hu and Simone Manuel finished in 1:34.79.

USC’s Hannah Weiss, Riley Scott, Louise Hansson and Marta Ciesla finished third (1:35.36).

800 Free Relay

The Golden Bears continued their strong start, stunning Stanford in the 800 free relay.

Robin Neumann, Baker, Katie McLaughlin and Bilquist won the race in 6:52.62.

Stanford’s Katie Drabot, Ella Eastin, Brooke Forde and Katie Ledecky took second (6;53.86).

USC’s Hansson, Tatum Wade, Lexie Malazdrewicz and Scott took third (6:56.85).
