Oregon Senior Championships

GRESHAM, Oregon. March 13. THE Columbia River Swim Team came out on top at the Oregon Senior short-course-yard Championships this past weekend.

Female high point winner Alex Kronberger from Maverick Aquatic Club helped them finished second overall by winning five individual events including the 100 fly (57.80), 100 back (57.69), 200 back (2:04.07) 400 IM (4:36.18), and 1650 free (18:25.47).

The other multiple event winner was Julia Sanders from Columbia River Swim Team (CRST), winning the 100 breast (1:07.89) and 50 free (24.14).

CRST won four out of the five women's relays by winning the 200-medley relay (1:53.17), 400-medley relay (4:07.24), 200 free relay (1:39.92), and 400 free relay (3:43.55). The Hillsboro Heat Swim Team prevented CRST from sweeping the relay by winning the 800 free relay (8:06.39).

Aaron Ghiglieri from Maverick Aquatic Club won four individual events including the 100 fly (51.44), 50 free (21.64), 100 free (47.35), and 200 free (1:46.10).

Male high point winner Ben Nierman of Albany Aquatic Association won three events individually including the 400 IM (4:19.49), 100 back (54.42), and 200 back (1:56.89).

Other multiple event winner was Jeff Sloss of Canby Aquatic Club who swam to wins in the 200 breast (2:14.02) and 200 IM (2:00.85).

Superior Sting Ray Swimming swept the men's relays by winning the 200 free relay (1:29.38), 400 free relay (3:17.66), 800 free relay (7:19.25), 200-medley relay (1:41.53), and 400-medley relay (3:40.71).

The Columbia River Swim Team won the championship with a combined score of 939 points; Maverick Aquatics were second with 869 points, narrowly beating Mount Hood Aquatics who settled for third with 851 points.
