Olympics, Diving: China Keeps Rolling, Wins Women’s Platform Final

BEIJING, China, August 21. CHINA has been toying with the competition during diving at the Water Cube in Beijing. Overall, China has gone seven out of seven and will be looking for a Phelpsian eighth gold tomorrow in the men's platform.

Chen Ruolin of China earned gold with 447.70 points, holding off Canada's Emilie Heymans. Heymans took silver just 10.65 points behind with a 437.05-point tally. Wang Xin gave China bronze with a total of 429.90 points.

Laura Wilkinson of the U.S. concluded her remarkable career with a ninth-place total of 311.80. Wilkinson won gold in the 2000 Olympics and came into Beijing looking for another win.

"It wasn't the meet of my dreams and wasn't the ending I wanted, but I wouldn't trade (these last four years) for anything," Wilkinson told USA Diving.
