Olympians Phelps, Ledecky, Manuel & Murphy Finalists for 2017 ESPYS

ESPN released the nominees for the 25th ESPYS and Rio Olympians Michael Phelps, Katie Ledecky, Simone Manuel, and Ryan Murphy are among the finalists.

Phelps is entered into two categories: Best Male Athlete and Best Record-Breaking Performance. The five-time Olympian won Best Male Athlete in 2009 and chasing his third Best Record-Breaking Performance ESPY, having won it following both the Beijing and London Olympics.

Both Murphy and Phelps are featured in the Best Male US Olympic Athlete category.

Ledecky and Manuel join Olympic Gymnast Simone Biles and sprinter Allyson Felix in competing for the Best Female US Olympic Athlete. Additionally, Ledecky was also nominated for the Best Female Athlete.

The 25th ESPYS are set to return to ABC for the third straight year on Sunday, July 12th and will be hosted by five-time NFL MVP and two-time Super Bowl champion Peyton Manning.

The night includes top celebrities from both sports and entertaining where categories such as “Best Game,” “Best Team,” “Best Upset,” and more. Additionally, the 25th ESPYS include the three pillar awards – the Arthur Ashe Courage Award, the Jimmy V Perseverance Award and the Pat Tillman Award for Service. The 25th ESPYS is an example of ESPN’s ongoing commitment to The V Foundation for Cancer Research, which was launched in 1993 by ESPN and the late Jim Valvano.
