Ohio State Men’s Swimming Set Team Record at Last Ditch Meet

COLUMBUS, Ohio, February 24. THE Ohio State men's swimming and diving team hosted the Ohio State Last Ditch meet at the Bill and Mae McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion Saturday. Eight teams participated in the meet in hopes of qualifying individuals for the NCAA championships next month.

Mark Neiman (Fr., Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill) improved his own Ohio State record set at the Big Ten championships to better his NCAA ‘B' time to 15:15.23 in the 1,650-yard freestyle. Felipe Travesso (So., Belo Horizonte, Brazil/Lawrences North) qualified for his first NCAA ‘B' time when he stopped the clock at 54.99 in the 100-yard breaststroke. Niksa Roki and Matthias Sigrist (So., Schaffhausen, Switzerland/Schaffhausen) both recorded qualifying times for the 2007 ConocoPhillips Summer National Championships. Roki posted a time of 3:55.49 in the 400-yard individual medley, while Sigrist swam a time of 1:38.83 in the 200-yard freestyle to earn their first national cuts.

In total, 14 Buckeyes have recorded 25 NCAA consideration times this season. An official announcement of who has qualified for the national championships will be released March 7. Swimmers and divers who qualify will travel to Minneapolis, Minn. Mar. 15-17, for the 2007 NCAA Division I Men's Swimming and Diving Championships.
