Oakland vs. Eastern Michigan

YPSILANTI, Michigan, November 12. AMR el Sayed won three men’s freestyle events, while Johanna Gustafsson won the 100- and 200-yard women’s breaststroke events and was part of two first-place relay teams to lead the Oakland men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams to a sweep over in-state rival Eastern Michigan, 182-116 (men) and 160-140 (women), on Saturday at Jones Natatorium.
“I’m real pleased and happy for these seniors that have now beaten Eastern Michigan all four years (on the women’s side),” said OU coach Pete Hovland. “It’s a testament to the men who won here for the first time in a long time, they really wanted it. Anytime you beat a team like Eastern, it has to be a team effort and that is what today was all about.”
