NOW AVAILABLE December Swimming World Magazine Names Pacific Rim Swimmers of the Year

PHOENIX, Arizona, December 5. CHINA swept the 2012 Swimming World Magazine Pacific Rim Swimmers of the Year awards. China's Ye Shiwen took honors for the women, and Sun Yang did the same amongst the men.

Every year, a panel of international Swimming World Magazine correspondents cast their ballots for Regional and World Swimmers of the Year. This year, Ye and Sun were both ranked first on all 19 ballots. Ye earned top honors for her incredible gold-medal performances in the 200 and 400 individual medleys at the 2012 Olympics. She set a new Olympic Record in the 200 IM, and outdid herself in the 400 IM with a new World Record.

Sun earned the male Pacific Rim Swimmer of the Year award for his remarkable distance freestyle performances at the London Olympics. He won his first gold in the 400 freestyle, raced to silver in the 200, then set a new World Record, by more than three seconds, in the 1500, beating his nearest competition by eight seconds.
