North Florida Wins Over Vanderbilt, 162-69

JACKSONVILLE, Florida, October 19. THE University of North Florida women's swimming and diving team won 10 of 12 events and rolled to a 162-69 win over Vanderbilt at the UNF Aquatic Center.

The Lady Ospreys (2-0 in duals) were led by freshman LynAnn Nelson, who picked up wins in the 50-free (25.19) and 500-free (5:06.03) and set new season-bests in the process. Her mark in the 50 free was a near lifetime best.

"It was a great way to start our home schedule," head coach Beth Harrell said. "We had some season-bests tonight, and I think so far this year we've been able to start faster than we have in the past. Everyone is excited about this year and our new conference. I think we'll be a player in the conference."

Freshman Sara Taylor picked up her first career win in the 1000-free, posting a time of 10:54.40. In the 100-breast, sophomore Kristin Pike swam a new career-best of 1:09.63 and finished in first.

In the 100-back, sophomore Emily Shaw clocked in at 1:01.62 and was the event's top finisher. Sophomore Krissy Harms picked up a first-place finish in the 200 IM after recording a time of 2:16.35.

Freshman Megan Boudreau, who along with fellow Canadian teammate Patricia Lanoue competed in her first individual event in the United States, swam the 100-free in 54.69 to finish first in the event. Freshman Becky Ryerson was right behind Boudreau in second-place with a time of 56.78.

UNF proved to be strong in relays, getting the meet started off with a win in the 200-medley relay. Jennifer Bajger, Pike, Charlene Nebera and Ryerson picked up the top finish after clocking in at 1:50.91.

Junior diver Emily Eisenhower, who qualified for the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships, got her season off to a solid start by sweeping both the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions.
