North Dakota Men’s High School State Championships

MANDAN, North Dakota, March 31. DESPITE taking just one event win, the Minot men compiled 367.5 points, which was enough to crown the Magicians as the North Dakota state champions for the 10th straight year.

West Fargo took second with 333.5 points while Fargo South rounded out the top three teams with 230 points.

Ben Griggs of Fargo South corralled wins in both sprint events, clocking a 21.99 in the 50 freestyle and a 48.09 in the 100 freestyle.

Fargo North's Christian Nasset captured state titles in two events as well, placing first in the 100 butterfly (53.23) and the 100 breaststroke (59.93).

Ian Straehley from Century took top honors in the diving competition, scoring a 444.75. Layne Nordquist of Minot snared the silver, scoring a 440.95 while Devin Aune of Mandan came in third with a 382.35 score.
