No. 22 Indiana Downs No. 19 Notre Dame in Women’s Swimming

BLOOMINGTON, Indiana, January 19. THE 22nd-ranked Indiana women's swimming and diving team dispatched of in-state for Notre Dame, 175-125 in a dual meet Saturday afternoon at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center.

The Hoosier quartet of Brooklyn Snodgrass, Ashley Specht, Justine Ress and Sara Delay cruised to a win in the 200 medley relay with atime of 1:41.20.

The Hoosiers went 1-2 in the 1,000 freestyle as TaylorO'Brien came home in 10:00.37, followed by Haley Lips (10:08.66). Madelon Webb was fourth (10:21.96).

Lindsay Vrooman led wall-to-wall in the 200 free, clocking a time of 1:48.58. Cynthia Pammett was second (1:49.79) and Stephanie Armstrong fourth (1:52.98).

Snodgrass was the winner in the 100 backstroke (54.21-NCAA B Cut), with Ress third (56.18) and Allie Day sixth (56.76). Bronwyn Pasloski placed second in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.60) with Specht third (1:01.71) and Madeline Maher fourth (1:03.62).

It was a 2-3 finish for IU in the 200 butterfly with Lips second (2:00.86) and Brenna MacLean third (2:01.98) and Dorina Szekeres fourth (2:02.27).

Delay picked up an individual win the 50 freestyle at 23.37, with Pammett second (23.69) and Pasloski fifth (23.88). Pammett won the 100freestyle (50.57), as Delay placed fourth (51.63) and Armstrong sixth (52.71).

Snodgrass won the 200 backstroke in 1:56.32 (NCAA B Cut), with Justine Ress third (1:59.62) and Szekeres fourth (2:00.84). It was a 2-3 finish for IU in the 200 breaststroke with Maher second (2:16.03) and Pasloski third (2:16.52). Specht was fourth in 2:17.30.

Indiana went 1-2 in the 500 freestyle, led by Vrooman in 4:53.33. O'Brien touched the wall second (4:53.38) with Madelon Webb sixth (5:07.40).

The Hoosiers captured the second- and third-place spots on the 3-meter springboard with Kate Hillman second (311.03) and Amy Cozad third (290.55).

The Hoosiers also finished second and third on the 1-meter springboard, switching spots this time with Cozad second (301.43) and Hillman third (295.50).

Lips was second in the 100 butterfly (55.81) and MacLean sixth (57.72). IU finished in the 2-3 spots in the 200 individual medley with Szekeres second (2:01.02-NCAA B Cut), Snodgrass third (2:03.90) and Day fourth (2:07.94).

Indiana capped a victorious afternoon with a win the 400 freestyle relay as Pammett, Vrooman, Lips and Delay posted a winning time of 3:24.52.
