Nick D’Innocenzo Shoots Down National High School Record in 200 IM

CAMBRIDGE, Massachusetts, February 22. WHILE he has already been in the 1:44 range in the men's 200-yard IM while representing Magnus Aquatic Club at the USA Swimming level, Nick D'Innocenzo finally cleared the national high school record while representing Andover High.

At the Massachusetts State Championships this weekend, D'Innocenzo rocketed to a time of 1:45.52 in the event to beat the 1:45.75 Matt Thomson set during Texas regionals last weekend.

Thompson's record will remain as the independent school record, but D'Innocenzo's time easily cleared the public school record of 1:46.75 set by Chesterton High's Kyle Whitaker last year.

D'Innocenzo is a Swimming World six-star recruit headed to the University of Texas next fall. As a member of Magnus, D'Innocenzo has posted times of 1:44.18 in the 200-yard IM and 3:43.36 in the 400-yard IM, which would have A finaled in the 2008 NCAA Division I Championships.
