New Zealand’s Alison Fitch Heading for Retirement

AUCKLAND, New Zealand, April 9. ONE of New Zealand's top female swimmers, Alison Fitch, is heading into retirement. Fitch has been one of the country's premier freestylers for more than a decade and represented her homeland at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and the 2004 Games in Athens. She missed out on the 2000 Olympics in Sydney.

Fitch has also raced at the 1998 and 2003 World Championships and competed at the Commonwealth Games last year, helping New Zealand to a bronze medal in the 800 freestyle relay. She also guided her nation to fourth place in the 400 free relay and 400 medley relay.
