New York Boys High School State Championships

EAST MEADOW, New York, March 10. THE New York Boys High School State Championships took place March 4-5 at the Nassau County Aquatic Center.

Three swimmers doubled with individual wins. Pine Bush's Lawrence Virgilio swept the 50 (20.36) and 100 free (45.12), while Rye's Kevin Hughes also won two freestyle races, the 200 (1:39.13) and 500 (4:26.24). HHH's Matthew DeBlasio earned first place wins in the 200 IM (1:50.93) and 100 back (50.71).

Iona Prep's Ed Pagano swept to first in the 100 fly (50.15), and he led his team to victory in the 200 free relay. Jeremiah Crowley, Timothy Martin-Toussaint, Darin Gillenwater, and Pagano posted a winning 1:25.04. Tappan Zee's Stanley Wong won the 100 breast (56.48), and teammates Lance Neuendorf, Yonghoon Jun, and Jack Carey joined Wong on Tappan Zee's victorious 200 medley relay team (1:34.50). Fordham Prep's team of Patrick Conaton, Brian Hogan, Joseph Casino, and Joseph Eiden took the 400 free relay (3:09.44). Albany Academy's Manny Pollard won one meter diving with 534.35 points.
