New Tiger Heads to FINA Short Course World Championships

STOCKTON, Calif., September 25. UNIVERSITY of the Pacific has announced that freshman women swimmer Zaida Jardine (Cape Town, South Africa) has been selected to represent her native country at the 2004 FINA World Swimming Championships at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis Oct. 7-11.

The FINA World Championships is the most prestigious and largest international swimming event outside the Olympic Games. This year's event marks the first time the competition has been held in the United States.

Jardine, who signed with the Tigers this past spring, will compete in the 50 Breast and 100 Breast events at the competition. She will also compete in breaststroke events during Pacific's 2004-05 season.

Pacific officially opens its 2004-05 season with a dual meet against Florida State on Saturday, Oct. 23, at 11 a.m. at Chris Kjeldsen Pool.
