New Mexico Adds Five Recruits

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico, November 21. THE Lobo swimming and diving staff announced the signing of five student-athletes to National Letters of Intent. Two Texans, Nanett Wittenberg of Houston and Jaclyn Fedors of Flower Mound have signed along with Sally Bellinger of Tiburon, Calif., Melissa Neary of Hartland, Wisc. and Phoebe Bizzell of Covington, Wash.

"We are thrilled to have signed so many recruits during the early signing period," head coach Tracy Ljone said. "All of these ladies are fantastic swimmers as well as great students. We are excited for all of them to be a part of our UNM family!"

Wittenberg is a three-time Texas state qualifier and a two-time NISCA/Speedo All-American.

"Nanette is going to tbe an asset to the team in both butterfly distances and the individual medleys," Ljone said. "She is a wonderful swimmer and a well-rounded student that will make an immediate impact on our team."

Fedors is a three-time Texas state qualifier and a two-time NISCA/Speedo All-America.

"Jaclyn will be a great addition to our backstroke squad and will also add depth in our mid-distance freestyle events," Ljone said.

Bellinger is a California sectional and state qualifier and a 2005 Water Polo All-Leage second team honoree.

"Sally should be able to make an immediate impact in our breaststroke events," Ljone said. "She is a talented sprinter that will add depth in all of the short events."

Neary is a junior national qualifier, 2006 Chicago sectional qualifier, three-time Wisconsin state qualifier and a member of the 200-yard freestyle relay team that set the Wisconsin state record in 2005.

"We are looking toward Melissa to make an immediate impact in the sprint events as well as contributing to the relay teams," Ljone said.

Bizzell is a junior national qualifier, Western Zone Championship qualifier and a 2006 American Short Course Championship qualifier.

"Phoebe will be a tremendous asset to our team," Ljone said. "She is a wonderful backstroke swimmer that will also add depth to our individual medley events."
