New Jersey High School State Championships

SEWELL, New Jersey, March 9. THE New Jersey High School State Championships took place last weekend, March 6-7, at the Gloucester County Institute of Technology in Sewell.

Girls Results
West Windsor Plainsboro South won two of three relays. Cori Michibata, Rebecca Lewinson, Jocelyn Yuen, and Meredith Ketchmark won the 200 medley (1:47.28) and 400 freestyle (3:33.73) relays.

Maureen McCotter (Bishop Eustace) won the 200 and 500 freestyles. She clocked times of 1:51.71 and 4:52.84, respectively.

Freshman Colleen Callahan (Atlantic City) was a dual event winner in the 200 IM (2:04.73) and the 100 breaststroke (1:03.70).

Montgomery’s Megan Lydzinski had individual wins in the 50 (23.75) and 100 (51.11) freestyles.

Andrea DeAngelis, Kristen Landry, Jennie Marosits, and Meghan Kiely (Mountain Lakes) won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:38.87.

Boys Results
The Pingry School won all three relays. Nick Gilligan, Nic Fink, James Ross, and Brandon Moy won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:35.48.

Fink also set a meet record in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 56.26. The previous record (56.52) was set by Jon Stinson in 2001.

Henry Scott (Columbia) was a dual event winner in the 200 freestyle (1:42.14) and the 100 butterfly (50.59).

Calvin Jones teamed up with Ross, Moy and Fink for a meet record in the 200 freestyle relay (1:25.30).

Other event winners include Leo Lim (Tenafly) in the 200 IM (1:52.98), Joe Gallene (Freehold Boro) in the 50 freestyle (21.67), Paul Gallagher (St. Agustine Prep) in the 100 freestyle (46.68), Joe Petrone (Cherry Hill East) in the 500 freestyle (4:37.81), and Michael Strand (Chatham) in the 100 backstroke (50.03).

Ross, Moy, Jones, and Fink closed the meet with a win in the 400 freestyle relay (3:09.72).
