NCSA Junior Nationals: Swift Swimming on Night Three

ORLANDO, Florida, March 17. THE third night of short course yard finals at the National Club Swimming Association (NCSA) Junior Nationals is in the books, all streamed LIVE on SwimmingWorld.TV.

Aquajets' Rachel Bootsma won the women's 50 fly in 24.04, while Academy Bullets' Mary Schneider and Curl Burke's Janet Hu tied for second with matching 24.40s. The Woodlands' Tripp Cooper touched out Rockville Montgomery's John Conger , 21.82 to 21.88, for the men's 50 fly title. The Woodlands' Gray Umbach finished third in 21.96.

Aquajets' Abigail Duncan claimed the women's 50 breast in 27.79, while Rockville Montgomery's Sarah Haase touched second in 27.95. Birmingham's Anne Lazor placed third in 28.78. Fox Valley's Kevin Cordes dominated the men's 50 breast in 25.09. Curl Burke's Charles Katis placed second in 25.23, while Peoria Area's Matthew Elliott touched third in 25.27.

Baylor's Kristen Vredeveld snagged the women's 200 free crown in 1:45.63, while First Colony's Madeline Locus picked up second in 1:45.96. Bootsma podiumed for the second time in the night with a third-place 1:47.64. Swimming World six star recruit Clay Youngquist of Lakeview, won the men's 200 free in 1:35.61. Nova of Virginia's Thomas Stephens placed second in 1:36.96, while Blue Dolfins' Matthew Curby captured third in 1:37.51.

Nova of Virginia's Rebecca Rainer claimed the women's 400 IM in 4:11.39, while Coast Guard's Amanda Carner took second in 4:13.82. Curl Burke's Kaitlin Pawlowicz wound up third in 4:14.63. Elliott took his second podium of the night with a winning 3:48.01 in the men's 400 IM. Blue Tide's Jordan Jones placed second in 3:48.12, while Northern Kentucky's Max Williamson touched third in 3:49.73.

First Colony's Simone Manuel, Skylar Smith, Romy Landeck and Madeline Locus pocketed the women's 400 free relay title in 3:20.50, while Blue Dolfins' Jason Coombs, Takashi Worrell, Zackary Edgar and Matthew Curby topped the men's 400 free relay in 3:07.00.
