NCSA Junior Nationals: Distance, Medley Relays Start Meet

ORLANDO, Florida, March 15. THE National Club Swimming Association (NCSA) Junior Nationals kicked off with a night of distance freestyle and medley relays in Orlando, Fla. The evening swims took place in short course yard format.

Nova of Virginia’s Alison Haulsee won the women’s 1000 free with a time of 9:39.30, while Elmbrook’s Kelsey Hojan Clark took home second in 9:41.30. The Woodlands’ Kelsey Leneave completed the top three in 9:42.34.

Hinsdale’s Daniel Thomson snatched the men’s 1000 free title in 8:55.72, while Lakeview’s Clay Youngquist cruised through the event with an easy second-place 9:05.15. First Colony’s Eegan Groome placed third in 9:05.17.

In relay action, the Aquajets dominated the women’s 200 medley relay with a 1:39.15 from Rachel Bootsma, Abigail Duncan, Heather Arseth and Emma Paulson. Bootsma dropped a strong leadoff with a 24.02.

Meanwhile, Curl Burke’s Philip Hu, Charles Katis, James Crabb and Cyrus Hashemi capthred the men’s 200 medley relay title in 1:30.70.
