NCAA Women’s Swimming: #11 Florida Defeats #9 Texas, 165-135

Gainesville, FL – The No. 9-ranked University of Texas women’s swimming and diving team was defeated 165-135 at No. 11 Florida at the Stephen O’Connell Center Natatorium.

Five individuals won events for the Longhorns, including junior Shona Kitson (Windsor, Ontario / Vincent Massey HS), who won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 55.28 and finished third in the 200 butterfly in 2:02.64. Both are season-best times, and both exceed the consideration cuts for the NCAA Championships.

The first Texas event win was pulled in by freshman Stephanie Jenkins (Virginia Beach, Va. / Kempsville HS) in the 100-yard breaststroke. Her time of 1:04.26 took more than a second off her season-best and was just 0.07 off the consideration standard. Jenkins also finished second in the 200 breaststroke (2:19.21) and dropped more than 2-1/2 seconds off her previous season-best.
