NCAA Men’s Swimming: No. 1 Texas Beats No. 11 Tennessee

AUSTIN, TX – University of Texas junior Nate Dusing (Villa Hills, Ky. / Covington Catholic) captured two individual event competitions as the top-ranked Longhorns defeated the 11th-ranked Tennessee Vols 135-105 in dual-meet action on Friday (1/7/00) at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.

Fourteen-time All-American Dusing posted a season-best 1:48.24 en route to his victory in the 200-yard individual medley. He also claimed first-place honors in the 500-yard freestyle, touching in 4:27.08 to edge out Tennessee’s Brent Tannhauser by 0.09 seconds.

Senior Jon Younghouse (Cape Girardeau, Mo. / Cape Central) claimed the first event victory for Texas, winning the 1,650-yard freestyle in an NCAA consideration standard time of 15:25.82, while junior Jamie Rauch (Houston, Texas / Cypress Creek) posted another NCAA consideration standard time for the Longhorns with his 1:39.14 performance in winning the 200-yard freestyle. Senior Bryan Jones (College Station, Texas / A&M Consolidated), junior Matt Ulrickson (Scottsdale, Ariz. / Saguara), and freshman Ross Binkley (Austin, Texas / McCallum) also collected individual-event wins for the Horns.
