NCAA Men’s Swimming: #2 Texas Downs #3 Auburn, 123-118

AUBURN, AL – Six years to the day since its last win at Auburn, the No. 2-ranked University of Texas men’s swimming and diving team beat the No. 3 Tigers, 123-118, Friday afternoon at the Martin Aquatics Center in Auburn, Ala. Four Longhorns notched event wins, including freshman Tommy Hannan (Baltimore, Md. / Mount St. Joseph HS) and sophomore Nate Dusing (Villa Hills, Ky. / Covington Catholic HS), who both exceeded the NCAA automatic qualifying standards in their respective events.

Auburn’s loss was just the second in the five-year history of the Martin Aquatics Center and the first since a 128-115 loss to Florida on Jan. 8, 1994. Texas notched its first win at Auburn since a 133-110 decision on Jan. 15, 1993, which was contested at Joel Ganes Memorial Coliseum, AU’s previous facility. The Longhorns broke Auburn’s overall streak of 24 consecutive dual-meet victories last year in Austin.
