NCAA Division I Women’s Champs: Ohio State’s Chelsea Davis Wins Three-Meter Title

COLUMBUS, Ohio, March 21. IN front of a partisan crowd in her home pool, Ohio State's Chelsea Davis dominated the three-meter event at the NCAA Division I Women's Championship.

Davis tallied 365.85 points to become only the second OSU diver, and the first in 21 years, to win the three-meter crown. Previously, Kim Fugett won the event in 1987 with 550.70 points.

Although Davis had a rough dive during the third round with 42 points, she shook it off with a monster reverse 2.5 somersaults in the pike position for 73.50 points in the fourth round. Davis also hit a backward 2.5 somersault in the pike position for 70.50 in the first round.

Ohio State's freshman Bianca Alvarez nailed her final dive to give OSU a 1-2, much to the delight of the home crowd, as Alvarez compiled 354.50 points for second place. Meanwhile, Texas' Kathryn Kelly placed third with 353.15 points.

The top five did not change with Arizona (321), Auburn (222), Texas A&M (193), Stanford (183) and California (171) making up those spots.
