NCAA Division I Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships: Arizona’s Ben Grado Claims Platform Title

FEDERAL WAY, Washington, March 24. ARIZONA's Ben Grado secured the platform diving title by more than 30 points at the NCAA Division I Men's Championships. Grado became the first diver in Arizona history to win an NCAA title.

Grado accumulated 487.25 points, while Missouri's David Bonuchi placed second with 456.00 points. Texas' Matthew Cooper (449.15) and Drew Livingston (427.05) placed third and fourth for the Longhorns. Indiana's Conor Murphy (413.25), Virginia Tech's Logan Shinholser (401.25), Virginia Tech's Ryan Hawkins (377.25) and Indiana's Zach Nees (343.95) also competed in the finale.

Tennessee's Mauricio Robles Rodrigues won the consolation finale with 355.30 points. Stanford's Kristian Ipsen (350.75), Minnesota's Michael Ross (347.90), LSU's Daniel Helm (324.50), Virginia's Briggy Imbriglia (315.20), Tennessee's Ryan Helms (300.20), Kentucky's Greg Ferrucci (298.10) and Indiana's Darian Schmidt (266.30) also dove this afternoon.

California's lead remained insurmountable with 502.5 for the top team tally. Texas closed to within 51.5 points with a second-place tally of 451. Stanford (398.5), Arizona (370) and Michigan (253) held the rest of the top five spots.
