FEDERAL WAY, Washington, March 29. WITH a pair of 90-plus dives to his credit on the night, Ohio State's Sean Moore completed a remarkable six-round total of 478.20 to grab the platform title at the NCAA Division I Men's Championships.

The win is the first in the event for OSU since David Pichler won the second available crown in 1991. SMU's Scott Donie earned the crown the first year the platform was offered at the NCAA Championships in 1990.

Moore tallied a 94.05 in the third round from a backward 3.5 somersault from a tuck position that included a pair of 10s from the judges. Moore also nailed his sixth dive, a backwards 2.5 somersault with 1.5 twists from a pike position for 95.20. That final round included another 10 from a judge.

Georgia's Chris Colwill placed second with 460.60 points, while Purdue's David Colturi took third with 453.65 points.

Arizona, who is assured of the team title, had an 82.5-point lead heading into the final event with 460.5 points. Texas stood second with 378, while Stanford (314), California (300.5) and Auburn (282) rounded out the top five.
