ARKADELPHIA, November 7. THE Ouachita Baptist University Tiger Sharks and Lady Tiger Sharks made it a clean sweep of Henderson State as the Tiger Sharks took a 129-11 win over HSU and the Lady Tiger Sharks beat the Red Wave 147-95 at the Wells Center on the Henderson State campus today.
The injury-riddled Ouachita squads fended off the Henderson teams in their home pool by using victories in the individual swimming events. Out of nine individual events, the Tiger Sharks placed six swimmers in first place and the Lady Tiger Sharks had seven first-place finishes. The Lady Tiger Sharks took first place in both relay events while HSU and OBU split first-place finishes in the men’s relay events.
The Lady Tiger Sharks had two swimmers win two events each. Kelly McGowan took first place in the 50-yard free and the 100-yard free and Emily Looney took first place in the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard fly event. Louise Griffin won the 200-yard free, Syd Barker took first in the 500-yard free and Ksenjia Kraic took first place in the 100-yard breaststroke for Ouachita.
Chris Achey and Adam Weaber registered first-place finishes for the Tiger Sharks as well. Weaber won the 200- and 500-yard free events while Achey took first place in the 50-yard free and the 100-yard fly. Justin Boyd won the 200-yard individual medley and Rinaldo Sintjago won the 100-yard free event for Ouachita.
In the diving events, Ouachita got a victory from Danielle Young in the women’s three-meter event. Yukiko Sawaki finished in third place in both the one- and three-meter events.
Ouachita will host Delta State University on Friday, November 8, at 5 p.m. at Waggoner Pool in the Sturgis Center.
