NCAA Div. I Women: FSU Remains Undefeated, Beats N.C. State

RALEIGH, N.C., Jan. 10. FLORIDA State’s 20th ranked women’s swimming and diving team continued its winning ways by defeating Atlantic Coast Conference opponent NC State, 136-107, to remain undefeated in the conference at 2-0 and improve its record to 10-1. The victory marked the first time in school history that the Lady Seminoles had won 10 or more dual meets in consecutive seasons. Last season, FSU won a school record 14 meets.

Junior Loren Hansen led the Lady Seminoles, who won nine of the meet’s 13 events, with two individual victories. Hansen took first-place honors in the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.09) and later won the 500-free at 5:00.47 to seal the victory for FSU.

The Lady Seminoles solidified the victory by taking both the 400-medley and 400-free relays. The 400-medley relay team of senior Elizabeth Parkinson, juniors Andree-Anne LeRoy and Emma Dutton and sophomore Emily Breen won with a time of 3:54.38. Breen was later joined by fellow juniors Hansen and Rachel Dong and sophomore Jennie Lyes to win the 400-free relay at 3:34.09.

Breen when on to win the 100-yard freestyle at 51.86, while Lyes added a victory in the 50-free with a time of 24.00. Dutton touched the wall first in the 200-breast at 2:20.85. Sophomores Lisa How and Golda Marcus round out the winners for the Lady Seminoles with wins in the 200-butterfly (2:03.90) and 1000-free (10:24.00), respectively.

The Lady Seminoles will remain in North Carolina to take on an ACC powerhouse in No. 14 ranked UNC and Big East power Rutgers on Saturday at noon in Chapel Hill.
