NCAA Div. I: USC’s Hartley, Arizona’s Ojeda Win at Zone E Diving Meet

STANFORD, CA, Mar. 14. ­ USC's Blythe Hartley and Arizona's Omar Ojeda won the women's 1-meter and men's 3-meter events, respectively, on the first day of the 2002 NCAA Zone E Diving Meet hosted by Stanford at the Maas Family Diving Center on Thursday. Hartley scored 322.20 points, while Ojeda finished with 582.80.

The top three divers in each event automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships March 21-23 in Austin, Texas.

Stanford's Erica Sorgi finished second and was the top Cardinal diver in the women¹s 1-meter (270.25). Sorgi automatically qualified for the NCAAs along with teammate and third-place finisher Ashlee Rosenthal (264.55).

Brigham Young's Justin Wilcock (553.10) and Arizona's Joshua Anderson (521.30) finished second and third in the men's 1-meter to join Ojeda in automatically qualifying for the NCAAs.

The 2002 NCAA Zone E Diving Meet continues with the men's 1-meter and the women's 3-meter events on Friday (12:00 p.m.) before concluding with the men's and women¹s platform on Saturday (11:00 a.m.).
