NCAA Div. I Men: #1 Texas Dominates #9 Michigan in Exhibition

ANN ARBOR, Mich., Nov. 17. THE No. 1-ranked Texas men's swimming team posted four wins in six events during an exhibition meet hosted by No. 9 Michigan on Friday, Nov. 17 at the Canham Natatorium in Ann Arbor.

The team of junior Tommy Hannan ((Baltimore, Md.), freshman Ian Crocker (Portland, Maine), junior Ryan Ciccarelli (Plainsboro, N.J.) and senior Jamie Rauch (Houston, Texas) opened the meet with a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:22.92).

In the individual events, junior Leffie Crawford (Pacifica, Calif.) touched first in the 100 fly (50:43), while newcomer Brendan Hansen (Havertown, Pa.) captured the 100 breaststroke title with a time of
55.33. Senior Nate Dusing (Villa Hills, Ky./Covington Catholic) also won the 100 backstroke with a time of 49.28.

Michigan's Chris Thompson, the American record-holder in the 1500 meter freestyle, took the 1650 free in 15:11.09, leading Mike O'Connor (15:47.36) to the wall for a one-two Michigan sweep. Dan Ketchum (3:56.00) and Jason Mallory (3:56.16)duplicated that feat for the home team in the 400 IM.

Texas and Michigan tangle tomorrow in a dual meet in Ann Arbor.
