NC State Wolfpack Opens Season With All-North Carolina Invitational

RALEIGH, North Carolina, October 2. The NC State swimming & diving team will open its 2014-15 regular season Friday, Oct. 3 by hosting the third annual All-North Carolina Invitational. The two-day meet is slated to begin Friday at 5:30 p.m., and Saturday at 10 a.m., inside the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C.

Holloway’s Take
“We’re excited to be hosting the third annual All-North Carolina Invitational,” said head coach Braden Holloway. “It’s always been a fun trip to get a bunch of teams from different conferences and divisions in the same place for the weekend. It’s something that our team really enjoys each year.

“This is the breakout for us to see where we are and we’ll start to learn some things about our team. It’ll be nice to see our newcomers compete in their first collegiate meet and hopefully we can get off to a good start.”

Participating Teams
A total of 12 teams will be competing in the Invitational, along with the Wolfpack, including Campbell, Davidson, East Carolina, Gardner-Webb, Greensboro College, Lenior-Ryhne, Mars Hill, North Carolina A&T, Queens University of Charlotte, UNC-Asheville and St. Andrew’s University.

Pack Set for #STATEment season
The Pack is coming off a tremendous 2013-14 season and excitement for the swimming & diving program is high, as both squads finished last year in the top-16 at the NCAA Championships for the first time in program history.

The Wolfpack returns a combined 10 All-Americans from last season’s squad, as the NC State women’s squad returns six student-athletes that garnered All-American honors and the men’s team has four returning All-Americans.

The Wolfpack men’s and women’s squads each finished the 2013 All-N.C. Invitational in first-place overall in the team standings.
