National Records Fall During Dutch Short Course Nationals

AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands, December 21. A pair of national records fells at the Dutch Short Course National Championships during the first night of competition. Individually, Femke Heemskerk knocked down the women's 200 IM record, while the Eiffel Swimmers PSV team shot down the 400 free relay.

Heemskerk touched in 2:10.68 in the women's 200 IM as she dominated the heat. Sandra Temmerman provided the closest competition with a second-place 2:20.33.

Meanwhile, the Eiffel squad of Inge Dekker, Wendy van den Zanden, Manon van Vulpen and Marleen Veldhuis hit the wall in 3:36.97 to break the women's 400 free relay national standard.

Pieter van den Hoogenband also provided a quick time with a 21.71 in the 50 free, just .06 seconds off his personal best in the event.
