Morrison a True Inspiration

SEATTLE, Washington, November 13. THERE was a time when Marin Morrison envisioned competing at the United States Olympic Trials, maybe even in the Olympic Games. One of the top-rated youngsters in the nation, her future in the pool was filled with promise. Now, Morrison is fighting for her life while also serving as an inspiration to all who know her.

Diagnosed with a brain tumor, Morrison was recently featured in a piece by KOMO-TV that focused on her upbeat personality, dedication and desire to live life to the fullest. A member of the Eastlake High swim team in the state of Washington, Morrison has captured the hearts of her teammates and has found a refuge from the effects of her brain tumor.

Told by doctors that she wouldn't live to see her 16th birthday, Morrison has been a fighter. Although a second brain surgery left the right side of her body paralyzed, she has remained with the sport that is a love. The surgery also left Morrison with aphasia, a disorder that doesn't allow her to clearly state the thoughts in her mind.

According to the piece by KOMO-TV, Morrison enjoys knitting hats as one of her hobbies, along with swimming. In the pool, she recently pulled off as good a swim as her career has seen, including those efforts from her younger years that were national caliber. Swimming with the aid of only one arm and one leg, due to her paralysis, Morrison raced the 100 butterfly for Eastlake. The crowd supported Morrison wildly for the two minutes she was in the pool.

Why wouldn't they? Marin Morrison is an inspiration of hope and courage.
