Morning Swim Show: San Antonio’s Bid For 2016 Trials Has Support Across Texas

PHOENIX, Arizona, April 24. OUR series of interviews with the representatives of the three cities bidding to host the 2016 U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials concludes today on The Morning Swim Show with two members of the San Antonio Sports Commission.

Those in the know in swimming will recognize the name George Block, who was a vice president for USA Swimming and head coach of the Alamo Area Aquatic Association in San Antonio. He talks about why he thought San Antonio would be an ideal host after he attended the 2004 Trials in Long Beach, and what San Antonio will offer in terms of temporary pool construction to make it a faster and more intimate meet. Russ Bookbinder, the president of the San Antonio Sports Commission, details San Antonio's support of the bid and how the city has gained support from top swimming teams across Texas.
