Speaking to host Jeff Commings at the ASCA clinic in Florida, Keating looks back on his first visit to the clinic in Montreal in 1972, and how he’s seen the clinic atmosphere grow through the years. Not only have coaching styles changed in those 42 years, but Keating’s outlook on the sport has changed as well. He’s adopted many of the training philosophies of the top coaches in the sport, and now in Pittsford, N.Y., he uses a “hodgepodge” of training styles from Dick Shoulberg, Dave Salo and Brent Rushall in his program in an effort to create variety for his athletes.
