Morning Swim Show: Evan Morrison Discusses “Curious” Elements of Diana Nyad’s Swim

PHOENIX, Arizona, September 13. EVAN Morrison joins today’s edition of The Morning Swim Show shortly after his participation in a roundtable discussion to answer concerns about Diana Nyad’s swim from Cuba to Florida.

Morrison, an established fixture in the marathon swimming community, said his issues with Nyad’s swim mostly came from the hours when her swimming speed doubled, and in some cases, tripled, from her regular pace of 1.5 miles per hour. He said the roundtable discussion, which included Nyad and some members of her team, helped ease his concerns, but not completely. He also talks about why he’s not raising an issue over the use of a “stinger suit” to protect from jellyfish, and whether or not he would recommend this 110-mile swim to others.
