Petrov talks about the unusual idea to hold Sunday workouts, which he says has paid off for his swimmers because they are able to finish strong at swim meets, due to the normalcy of swimming on Sundays. Lasco’s national records come from an eagerness to work hard every day, Petrov says, and the coach details a regular set that Lasco does to illustrate the 12-year-old’s talent. Petrov also details his own swimming history while growing up in Bulgaria as a distance swimmer and his first coaching jobs in the United States.
