Morini Resigns As Canisius Head Swimming and Diving Coach

BUFFALO, N.Y., September 11. CANISIUS College Director of Athletics Timothy J. Dillon announced on Friday that head swimming and diving coach Jason Morini has resigned effective immediately. A national search to find a replacement for the full-time coaching position will begin immediately.

Morini, the program’s first full-time head coach, will accept the position of aquatics director and head coach of men and women’s swimming at College Misericordia in Dallas, Pa.

“We wish Jason all the best in his new position at Misericordia,” said Dillon. “Jason brought a great deal of enthusiasm and professionalism to the program here at Canisius. The energy he injected into the team will last throughout the remainder of the season.”

Canisius saw improvement during Morini’s only season at the helm of the program, as evidenced by the five school records set by the women’s squad at the 2004 MAAC Swimming and Diving Championships. Morini also worked diligently to restore the men’s program at the College after a six-year hiatus.

The Golden Griffins open the 2004-05 season with a four-way meet at Virginia Military Institute, Saturday, Oct. 23, with Radford and Old Dominion. Canisius returns 11 letterwinners to this year’s squad.
