Morgan McCafferty Commits To Nebraska With Aim To Beef Up Backstroke Squad

GAHANNA, Ohio, September 24. PABLO Morales gained a strong backstroke recruit this week for his women’s team at the University of Nebraska, claiming Ohio native Morgan McCafferty for next year’s freshman class.

McCafferty gained two top-eight finishes at last February’s Ohio state high school championships. She was sixth in the 100 back with a 56.62 after a 55.71 in prelims. She was also seventh in the 200 IM with a 2:04.95. Her best time in the 200 IM is a 2:03.26 from the Ohio high school sectional meet.

The 200 backstroke has room for improvement, with a 2:06.67 lifetime best.

McCafferty could make an immediate impact for Nebraska in the 100 back, as the Huskers will lose Rebekah Land after this season. Land was the fastest 100 backstroker for Nebraska last season with a 54.94 to win the C final at the Big Ten championships.
