More Than Just Michael Phelps Competing at Arena Grand Prix in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina, May 6. NEWS broke earlier today that superstar Michael Phelps is scheduled to swim just one day at the Arena Grand Prix in Charlotte, but there’s going to be plenty more world-class swimmers in attendance according to a release by USA Swimming.

Locally, SwimMAC will be bringing its full host of Team Elite members as the club hosts the ultra-competitive stop of the circuit. Ryan Lochte and Tyler Clary are both scheduled to do battle in Charlotte, while Cullen Jones and Lauren Perdue is another of the top local athletes who will be vying for cash prizes at the event.

Meanwhile, some other stalwart veterans will be in the fold as Elizabeth Beisel, Anthony Ervin, Jessica Hardy, Nick Thoman and Amanda Weir will join the more than 50 National Teamers that are slated to compete in Charlotte.

The action begins Thursday, May 15 with timed finals for distance events at 4 p.m. EDT, followed by 9 a.m. EDT prelims and 6 p.m. EDT finals Friday, May 16 through Sunday, May 18.

Tickets are required for each session and can be ordered online through Monday, May 12 or purchased at the pool next week, if available. All-session passes and tickets for the Saturday, May 17 finals session are no longer available. Visit for complete ticket details and advanced online purchasing.
