Montana High School State Championships

HARDIN, Montana, February 18. CM Russell walked away with two state titles at the Montana High School State Championships. On the girls’ side, CM Russell scored 234 points for first, followed by Missoula Sentinel (191) and Helena (140). The CM Russell boys outscored Missoula Big Sky/Loyola by one point for the state title with scores of 173 and 172, respectively. Helena took third with 163.5 points.

Girls Results
Dakota Sechena, Madisen Sechena, Gabby Malisani, and Dakota Bloch (CM Russell) opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay (1:54.70). M. Sechena and Malisani also tied for first place in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:00.69.

Bloch was a dual event winner in the 200 (1:55.62) and 500 (5:08.71) freestyles.

Missoula Sentinel’s Miranda Tornatore, Kelsey Hutton, Kelsie Miller, and Kasey Robinson took first in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:42.91.

Lew Yong Gerbrandt (Butte) had individual wins in the 200 IM and the 100 freestyle. She finished with times of 2:10.45 and 53.73, respectively.
Aspen McHugh teamed up with Tornatore, Hutton and Robinson for a win in the 400 freestyle relay (3:46.46).

Boys Results
Missoula Big Sky/Loyola won two of three relays. Corban Elliot, Kyle Jones, Andrew Bovard, and Peter Szekely won the 200 medley relay in 1:40.62.

Keegan Kampschroer (Billings Senior) had individual wins in the 200 (1:44.72) and 500 (4:50.87) freestyles.

CM Russell’s Derek Lair was a dual even winner in the 200 IM (1:55.33) and the 100 freestyle (47.56). He joined A.J. Griffith, Bridger Brennan and Austin Thompson for a win in the 200 freestyle relay (1:32.78).

Bovard won the 50 freestyle (21.95) and the 100 butterfly (51.85). He teamed up with Szekely, Jones and Elliot for a first-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay (3:21.11).
