Misty Hyman to be Inducted into Arizona Sports Hall of Fame

PHOENIX, Arizona, January 13. SWIMMING World contributor Misty Hyman, who won the Olympic gold medal in the women's 200-meter butterfly at the 2000 Sydney Games, has been named to the Class of 2012 for the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame.

Hyman, a two-time Swimming World High School Swimmer of the Year, had a phenomenal career as an Arizona native that included setting what had been one of the longest standing high school records in the girls 100-yard fly while at Phoenix Shadow Mountain High School. She also moved on to win 12 NCAA titles, and earned All-American accolades on 28 different occasions.

She is joined in the Class of 2012 by Arizona State quarterback Jake Plummer, former NFL quarterback Rodney Peete and former MLB player Tim Salmon. The 42nd Hall of Fame induction will take place on March 29.
