Missy Franklin, a former Cal swimmer, won the ESPY award for Best College Female Athlete. While Franklin was not in Los Angeles to win the award she tweeted a short video of her thanking everyone for voting for her with her car being towed in the background.

Other nominees for the award included:
–Taylor Cummings, Maryland LaCrosse
–Lauren Haeger, Florida Softball
–Micha Hancock, Penn State Volleyball
–Breanna Stewart, UConn Basketball

Franklin also recently won the 2015 Honda Cup as Top Female Collegiate Athlete being only the second Cal swimmer to ever win the award.

Both awards followed an exciting sophomore year as a Cal Golden Bear where Franklin was named NCAA Swimmer of the Year and Pac-12 Swimmer of the Year. She won three individual titles at the NCAA Division I Championships- 200-yard Individual Medley, 200-yard Freestyle, 200-yard Backstroke- as well as two relay titles.
