Missy Franklin Meets “The Biebs” At Denver Concert

DENVER, Colorado, January 7. MISSY Franklin had to return the swag Justin Bieber sent her after the Olympics, but Franklin got something better than posters, T-shirts and CDs: an audience with The Biebs himself at the singer's concert tonight in Denver.

Franklin posted a photo of her and Bieber backstage at the concert, with Franklin wearing one of her gold medals … and Bieber pointing to it in amazement. Franklin has not been shy about her immense adoration of Bieber, showing us that despite a maturity beyond her years in the pool, she's still a teenage girl prone to crushes for superstar singers. Though Franklin was likely all smiles after meeting Bieber before his sold-out concert at the Pepsi Center, she wasn't too happy about Bieber making her and the crowd wait for his entrance.

Franklin went public about her adoration of Bieber during the Olympics, when she received a Tweet from Bieber congratulating her on winning Olympic gold. Shortly after her return to Colorado, Franklin received a large amount of Bieber fan swag that was returned for fear of violating NCAA regulations of what constitutes an acceptable gift. Reportedly, that gift from Bieber would not have been a violation of NCAA rules, which Franklin is strictly adhering to in the months before she walks onto campus at the University of California-Berkeley.

Tonight's concert wrapped up an exciting holiday vacation for Franklin, who starts the second half of her senior year at Regis Jesuit in the morning. In addition to fighting off senioritis, Franklin will be hard at work in the pool, preparing for next week's Arena Grand Prix in Texas and the Colorado state high school championships in February.
