The Mizzou women’s swimming and diving team set four new school records en route to the 2014 Mizzou Invite team title Thursday through Saturday at the Mizzou Aquatic Center in Columbia, Mo. The Tigers racked up 1115 points to take first while Florida International (586), Nebraska (513) and Illinois (506) took second, third and fourth, respectively.

The Tigers set four new school records during the three days, including two from freshman Sharli Brady. The Mizzou newcomer set new program marks in the 400 IM (4:11.53) on Friday and the 200 fly (1:57.53) on Saturday. Also notching new records were sophomore Katharine Ross in the 100 breast (59.43) and junior Abby Duncan in the 200 breast (2:09.55).

On the final day of the Mizzou Invite, the women’s squad polished off its dominant weekend by winning five of seven events on Saturday night. Freshman Kira Zubar clocked a 16:30.73 to claim the 1650 free. With that time, she moves up to third all-time in school history less than two months into her first collegiate campaign.

Fellow freshman Hannah Stevens also continued her success, grabbing first in the 200 back in 1:52.98, sliding up to second all-time at Mizzou. Stevens has already secured two SEC Freshman of the Week honors thus far in 2014.

After breaking the school record during preliminaries on Saturday morning, junior Abby Duncan repeated her historic performance by shattering her own record hours later during finals. Mizzou swept the event as Katharine Ross (2:11.74) and Lauren Stoeckle (2:13.94) touched in at second and third.

Following Brady’s record-breaking swim in the 200 fly, the Tigers won the 400 free relay behind a 3:17.36 to put the exclamation point on the Tigers’ huge day and impressive weekend.

The Mizzou divers return to competition in December at the USA Diving Winter National Championships. The swimmers do not return to the pool until a meet at Arizona on Jan. 2.
