Missouri S&T vs. Southern Illinois

CARBONDALE, Illinois, October 28. THE SIU men's swimming and diving team won a dual meet with Missouri S & T on Friday, 118-80. Divers Kegan Skelton and Justin Ruszkowski led the way by setting zone NCAA Qualifier scores.

"We felt like we should win this and we did, which is always good," head coach Rick Walker said. "We're really tired in the middle of this intense training. But we're at that time of the year when we need to swim fast even when we're this tired. Shaun Wolfe was a bright spot for us."

Wolfe, a freshman, won the 50-yard freestyle, the 100-yard freestyle and was part of the 400-yard freestyle relay. The Salukis won 11 events on the night. Other winners included El Badrawi (200 freestyle), Cesar Perez (400 IM, 200 back), Justin Wolfe (200 fly), Sebastian Garcia (100 breast), Matt Parsons (500 free) and Matt Frey (100 fly). The Salukis also won the 400 freestyle relay and the 400 medley relay.

The SIU women's team swam time trials to qualify individuals for upcoming meets at Tennessee and Miami (OH).

The men's and women's teams are both back in action next Saturday, Nov. 5, in a tri-meet with Kentucky and Missouri in Lexington, Ky. Action is set to start at 10 a.m.
